In addition to my professional pursuits, I am an ardent jazz and rock musician. Here are some projects I am or have been involved with.
Dog Without Warning
Fine pop rock. Members are Kevin Costa, Dustin Miller, Tom Fields, Jeremy Beck and Mike Tuciarone. We record and play original rock music that makes us happy. (I play electric bass and sing.) This band has had several iterations, starting in 1999 as Apple Slap, then changing into Clutchbone, before finding its current life.
Kelly Park Big Band
The Kelly Park Big Band was founded in 2014 and has been an artist in residence at the Sound Room in Oakland since that time. The band is dedicated to the writing and performance of fresh original music and arrangements. (I play trombone. One day I will compose a chart for this band.)
Albany Jazz Band
The Albany Jazz Band is a community jazz big band that has been rehearsing and performing in and around Albany California for more than 15 years.
Forte is an exciting 13-piece R&B Band from the San Francisco Bay Area. Featuring a 3-part harmony vocal section, a full 5-piece horn section and an extended percussion section, Forte delivers a high energy Dance Party emphasizing current and “Old School” Pop, Soul, Rock & Funk.
This was the first band I was in. The original line-up included Jamie Quon, Ronnie Cato, Kevin Cato, and Trevor Contreras. This band existed during the CD era and way before Bandcamp (I am dating myself), but one day I will put our songs online, including the first EP from cassette tape (now I really dating myself).
